A history and a passion that has been handed down for several generations.
In the early 1940’s the first factory was opened in Palermo under the name CAMICERIA TOMMASO BUCALO. Only shirts are produced and about 30 workers are employed in the factory. Threads and fabrics are expertly worked by the employees - this is the beginning of a long history, made of sacrifices and dedication to work, passion and commitment.
In 1957 the sons joined the company and the company took the name of TOMMASO BUCALO E FIGLI. The consolidated family relationship is thus translated into managerial efficiency. The increase in demand for shirts leads the company to expand production, hiring more and more specialized workers.
In the meantime, in Palermo, the management passes to one of Tommaso Bucalo's sons and the company takes the name of I.M.C.A. Industria Mediterranea Camiceria Affini. Giuseppe Bucalo brings great innovation to the family business, increasing distribution and making it expand throughout Italy. The entrepreneurial spirit leads him to invest in the latest technological innovations, such as the famous Singer sewing machines, which allow him to optimize production.
It is the period of awards and honors, in 1976 Giuseppe Bucalo receives the L'Ercole d'Oro award. An international award given to the companies that distinguish themselves in the field of innovation. And a year later he was awarded the Cavaliere del Lavoro by Aldo Moro in person. A highly prestigious award for his twenty years of professional experience.
1987 is the turning point for the brand. In this year Giuseppe Bucalo's sons take over: Giovanni, Carmelo and Piero and they immediately show their enthusiasm and dedication to innovate the brand. BUCALO becomes a real clothing line. From shirts to the production of clothes, accessories and footwear.
From 1997 to the present day, the company grows ever stronger and starts to expand. In 1997, one of the first BUCALO flagship stores opens in one of the most elegant streets in the center of Palermo, Via Libertà.
In 2002 the store opens in Turin, then other stores are opened in shopping centers such as Etnapolis, Centro Sicilia and La Malfa 14. The ever-growing commercial need and the desire to invest in the retail world leads the BUCALO brand to open up to franchising solutions. Today there are 15 BUCALO stores, including direct and affiliates, and the company plans to open many more.
